Paper Towns Review. #5

Hello World,

Paper Town written by John Green, is the second book I have read by John Green. It is with no surprise that the first book I have read was 'The Fault In Our Stars'. I enjoyed The Fault In Our Stars, the book was quite moving and really gripping. I am also one of those people that like to read more than one book from the same author. When I saw this one and many other books written by John Green, I had to take a pick and give it ago.

Paper towns stars two characters; Quentin and Margo (Sorry internet but I am not going into full names), both are at their final year in High School, one is from the "popular" group and the other is in the "band"group. As all type of typical American story, Quentin has feelings for Margo. They are both next door neighbours and have grown up together. However one night, Margo comes into Quentin room and ask for a favour. After the night of fun and getting payback on Margo friends, Margo disappears. Quentin takes it upon himself, with his friends and tries to find Margo. Adventure, you have got the drill.

My review: Although this was well written and had some parts that actually got my mind thinking psychologically. I really struggled to finish this book, only because I found that it wasn't challenging enough and that I found it lacked in imagination. What I am saying is that, I have read a few other books and have watched a few television/films with the same character development or plot. I like books that gives me the time to think it through and to make me say "wow, I never thought about it, the way that character thought about it."
I still enjoy John Green, I like his style of writing. I have, however realised that I am not actually a fan of 'young adult' fiction. A lot of people I talk to about these genre of books recently, and no matter how much I give the most talked about books a good try, I cannot get into them. I think I am better sticking with my fiction and my fantasy books from now on.

Any books you would like to recommend, feel free too! I would love to hear all about it.
Also, it is National Book Day Tomorrow! Happy Reading!

Rose.
